What is Orthodontic Treatment?

Orthodontics is a dentistry specialty that addresses the diagnosis, prevention, management, and correction of mal-positioned teeth and jaws, and misaligned bite patterns. It may also address the modification of facial growth, known as dentofacial orthopedics. Abnormal alignment of the teeth and jaws is very common.

Ceramic Braces

There are now a number of options for consumers to straighten misaligned or wrongly angled teeth. You can have the traditional metallic braces which are proven to do the job but are plagued with a few unwanted disadvantages such as looking unsightly when smiling apart from clinically causing tooth decay and shortening of tooth roots.
One of the better options out there is using ceramic braces made of composite materials. They come in varying levels of transparency so you have ceramic brace that can take on the natural color of the teeth or are thoroughly translucent to be called clear ceramic braces and they do not stain. Three popular brands of ceramic braces include Mystique made by GAC along with Clarity and Transcend made by 3M Unitek. Most adults prefer ceramic braces because they blend in with the color of the teeth and are cosmetically less noticeable than metal.

lingual orthodontics

Modern patients are very concerned with their appearance during orthodontic treatment. More patients have received treatment than ever before since the introduction of Invisalign aligners in 1998 (mainly because aligners straighten the teeth without visible braces). Unfortunately, not all patients have problems that can be corrected with plastic aligners alone. Clear brackets have been around for decades, but up-close they still look like braces. Recent advances in 3D imaging and CAD/CAM technology (Suresmile) have facilitated a third option called “lingual braces.” Suresmile (discussed at length in several of my previous blog articles) is the key to modern lingual orthodontics.

ClearPath Aligner

ClearPath Aligners are USFDA APPROVED, removable medical grade plastic appliances which patient wears instead of brackets and wires to correct malocclusion. Dental aligners are a modern alternative to braces, for teeth that are in need of straightening. A Clear change to the concept of Cosmetic and Adult Orthodontic treatment without using conventional methods of wires and brackets. Adults wouldn’t have asked for a better choice to correct their malocclusion without social inhibitions. ClearPath dental Aligners also offer predictable results visualization even before the treatment Clear Aligners are clear removable cosmetic appliance designed for minor teeth movement of patients.

Benefits of Orthodontic Treatment

Straighter teeth give you more than a great smile—they also help to reduce your risk for tooth decay and gum disease. If left untreated by a dentist, tooth decay and gum disease can cause mouth sores, tender or bleeding gums, bad breath and possible tooth loss. Orthodontic treatment with Invisalign can assist with straight teeth, helping you to avoid problems such as an improper bite, difficulty speaking or chewing, and jaw problems.
